Vae - Nemesis

And who or what is your arch-nemesis?  If you have no arch-nemesis, who or what is your nano-nemesis?

The arch-nemesis do I have, but upset is Sythyry when I speak of her thus, so I will not.  The goddess Gnarn will do instead of her for mine.

In a way, I had a few Arch Nemesis, but I either defeated them all, or I have forgiven them a long time ago. I think the only nemesis I have left is the concept of poverty, and I don't know if I ever will have the wits to completely conquer that.

My nemesis is similar to (at least one of) yours -- the limitations and flaws and issues and blind spots of my own mind and brain.

The troublesome nemesis is that indeed!

Umm. Death?

I'm not sure I even have a nano-nemesis who's an actual person. Generally if I don't get along with someone, we just ignore each other instead of nemesising over it.

Victory is my name. I have no arch-nemesis, only lingering bad memories to work my way through.

My arch nemesis has been dead for many years before I have been born and still vexes me near-daily. It's so hard to triumph over a really bad idea.

[identity profile] mmsword.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
After doing some research, only a year before I was born. I swore she died late 70s instead of early 80s...

And how does she do that thing?

Does your arch-nemesis have to know that she is your arch-nemesis?

[identity profile] sythyry.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Not unusual or strage would it be for her to know this thing!

Mine does not. Maybe she never will! Let's hope, hmm?

[identity profile] xolo.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
My flesh and blood nemesis self-destructed to the extent where I don't even bother gloating anymore, much less taking action. He wrecks himself with no effort on my part, and it'd just be bouncing the rubble at this point anyway.

My conceptual arch-nemesis is much tougher. On a good day I can ignore it. On a bad day, it colours my world.

[identity profile] sythyry.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
The former seems a goodness, at least!

[identity profile] xolo.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
And the better goodness would it be were my emotions clean and uncomplicated, so that I could take unalloyed pleasure in watching a broken enemy's humiliation, without feeling vaguely sorry for him on some level.

Perhaps I am the arch-nemesis and someone else is the hero?

[identity profile] terrana.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
I think mine is probably the human race.

[identity profile] sythyry.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
The troublesome arrangement this seems.

[identity profile] terrana.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
In the extreme!

[identity profile] terrycloth.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
My *arch* nemesis is E. We've done battle secretly for years and years, without ever admitting to each other publically that we're anything but the best of friends.

... actually, there are two people with that name would could fit. Arch nemeses!

My current nano-nemesis is B., and he's actually causing me a lot of distress and stress and disarray at work by micromanaging me despite not having any authority to do so.

[identity profile] kris-schnee.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 10:58 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, I can't sign up to be a nano-nemesis too?

[identity profile] sythyry.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Everyone sign up for NaNoNeMo! ]

[identity profile] terrycloth.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It would help if you lived closer. People I only see online can't really be effective nemeses because I can turn off the computer and not talk to them.

...uh oh. I hope that didn't come off as a challenge.

[identity profile] sythyry.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
The two arch-nemeses with the same name seems so challenging! The signed malice-note from one might lead you to work revenge on the other.

[identity profile] sythyry.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah! And are you certain it is not a single nemesis with two identities, striving to blind and confuse you?

[identity profile] terrycloth.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I think B and one of the Es might be the same person. It' sneakier to use *different* names!

[identity profile] delight-in.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
What weapons do you use to wage battle with them are you sure they know you're fighting if you don't admit oh wait but they're fighting back the same way?

That sounds very confusing!

[identity profile] terrycloth.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
We'd get arrested and thrown in jail if we used *real* weapons, so we're forced to try to drive each other insane with mind games in order to make the other look stupid.

[identity profile] delight-in.livejournal.com 2010-12-20 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhhh which of you is winning?

[identity profile] foomf.livejournal.com 2010-12-21 10:56 am (UTC)(link)
If I know Terrycloth, he is.

And I don't but I do, as he's been around places I've been around. The virtual agora, in effect.
