With me, because I am very generous, here is a hypothetical that would illustrate how I work with regards to this. I am going to use Prime terms to describe this, because I think it works well that way.

Lets say that I am a cani male (not too far off the mark, in some ways.) Lets say that I was going through a time in my life where I was feeling relatively intimidated by, oh I dont know, Gormorror, and was wary of being intimate with one. Lets say that I am on, oh I don't know, a Rassimel kick for the time being. So if a beautiful Rassimel girl comes up and shows interest in me, and we are about to be intimate, and she stops me and says, "oh before we start, there is something you should know. I am really gormorror but am wearing Cloak tonight." I would probably happily continue. But if she DOESN'T do that, and I discover later (either from her or from someone else, it doesn't matter), that the Rassimel girl I was with was really Gormorror, I would be VERY angry! Not because I slept with a Gormorror when I was uneasy about them, but because I was deceived!

Ah, just realized I mistread the last question. At any rate, if someone under a spell to be my prefered sort were to attempt to seduce me, I would be hurt if they did not tell me about it before things progressed to a relatively serious level. In the case of your day, I wouldn't feel that you should declare yourself to me just because we happened to smile at each other, but if you innvited me to join you as you wandered off to a grove and I arrived shortly after you, I would think that would be a good time to mention that you weren't actually an orren, and if things progressed beyond that and I found out I would feel decieved.

If, on the other hand, you were of my prefered sort and transformed into a nonprefered form and I found out about it later, my most likely reaction would be "huh, that's interesting", followed by perhaps an attempt to get to know you better if the opportunity arose later and you met my preferences in the other ways that mattered.

So reading sythyry's very perplexed comment.... I guess zie would be perplexed if somezi ri flirts with zir, and the zi ri isn't actually a zi ri, but an orren who had done something like "win" a bet where she had to go around with someone's cloak of another god cast on her to disguise her as a zi ri, or somesuch "it seemed like a good idea at the time!" orren excuse?

Hmm. This poll brings up the strange fact that the Tree's universe doesn't seem to have any taboos at all about sexual preference by gender/sex. It seems odd that the gods would leave this feature out, as though they wanted to experiment with the idea from another angle by allowing for inter-species taboos. I'd also bet there's at least one non-prime race out there that does have such a rule.

About your questions, there's also the scenario of what happens if a person is inadvertently changed, and what happens to a relationship then.

Well, Gormoror generally prefer the opposite sex, and Zi Ri generally prefer the same sex.

Aside from that, if you're already excluding at least 3/4 of the population based on species, do you really want to cut your odds in half-or-so further?

In any case, I don't think that the gods had much to do about the matter. I think we arranged our civilization on generally-sensible lines ourselves.

So how weird are Gormorror that prefer the same sex and species considered? Do they tend to be ostracized in their tribes for many of the tribal type Gormorror? How about city Gormorror?

"Teased" more than "ostracized". Also they have fairly limited prospects for mates. They don't wind up in Castle Wrong anyhow -- unlike traff Gormoror.

Well if a pair of, say, male Gormorror came to castle wrong saying that their particular tribe was really upset about their relationship because of their gender (because I am sure SOME tribes think it is a bigger deal than others!), would you accept them as wrongfolk, or would they be 'not wrong enough'?
