I figured the "liberal media" should be the doomsayers, simply because the question is a trap. There is no liberal media! It doesn't exist! Therefore, there will be nobody to herald the end of the world, and we will all be blissfully unaware of our sudden and inexplicable bounty of precooked bacon. However, society in general will get rather sick of those idiots who want to continue crowing about doom & gloom, and a few well-placed cukes in various orifices will silence them quite nicely.
