I should be back soon, to finish up Sythyry's Vacation and start again, seven years later, with Sythyry's City. I'm going to try to do it as more of a series of short stories with interspersed bits of slice-of-life, as opposed to one long continuous mess of story arcs that don't always get finished with interspersed bits of slice-of-life. We'll see how it works.

The last question brings up another idea. If the city were far enough from civilization, it could encounter people (prime or not) to whom modern enchantments are amazingly advanced. How does an advanced, enlightened city like yours deal with people who want the cool magic, and other people from the same area who very much don't want it changing and "corrupting" their way of life?

I look forward to this! In the time since you've been on vacation from your vacation I've had the opportunity to realize how empty life has been without your little stories!

They're much more interesting than many of the web comics I read, and you don't even have pictures!

Eee, the happyness to see Saza still leading the poll. Can't believe I'm the only person to think of 'Interversal Portal' though, sheesh. Not to mention all the monsters who seem to think a cloak of another god will make them not monsters anymore.

Not all Primes avoid being monsters, case in point a certain Mentador liche of recent history.

That said, I have no idea what (if any) form a magisterium I might take on were I to be translated to the World Tree, but to get anything at all I would expect it to require the consent and participation of all the Ruling Entities of Noun and Verb, which seems amazingly unlikely to me. More likely I would be considered like a (hopefully not malevolent) extra-universal visitor and not destroyed and dumped outside the walls of the World Tree.

Which brings to mind an interesting parallel between the formation of the universe of the World Tree by the Nouns and Verbs, and the formation of Cities by the Primes.

Both being walled off with very hostile treatment afforded to those who would force their way inside.

I think a short story with wha's'er'name, the half-breed Orren / Rasimel, at the end of her life... does her spouse stay with her? When does she tell about her condition? Stuff like that... that'd be great.

What about Rheng? How can you run a city without a master of thiefing?

I want to know how the Elfimel manage to adjust to a hostile cosmos. At the very least, I want to know to what extent they have become mortal.

The main problem with going on vacation is missing LJ posts you really don't want to miss.

Just saw this cause I went back a few days looking for something else. :/
