Still, just theoretically, what would a Hell of Mircannis be like?
I played it once and I think we actually won, despite enemies so nasty you lose sanity just from looking at them. If you like cooperative games where you're probably doooomed, also check out "Ghost Stories".
Arkham Horror is one of my favorites; notably with all the expansions added in. It's a grand cooperative game, though it takes a while, and the game wins fairly often, especially if you're not planning correctly. The huge variety of cards, characters, and old ones makes it quite difficult to exhaust too; there's good replay value.
I vastly prefer the original version of it. Not only is the gameplay simpler, the feel of it is more fun, for me, and it was a lot less expensive, even in relative-dollar terms.
Of *course* advertising jingles, they seem pleasant for the short period of time you initially encounter them, but the punishment is they repeat in your head over and over and you can't make them stop, as if you're stuck in a short burst of time forever. It's perfect for a Hell of Mircannis!
In M.A. Foster's book, The Gameplayers of Zan, the culture being built/talked about has very strict naming conventions. These include what words can be used as names, how many syllables, how it can interact with the family name in a way based on some kind of numerology, among other things.
I love the book, but IMO you need to be of the culture to really enjoy learning your own name.
