I am now poor again!

Well, not that poor really, but I did spend well over half my recovered money on one single toy.

It’s a teeny little dragon made of thread, suspended in a rock crystal bezel, on a band of brazinion that fits me as a bracelet and anyprime else as a ring. Not cheap-looking! As art alone it’d be worth a few hundred lozens.

It is also a Glory of Hren Tzen. My creator god. All my best spells involve Sustenoc (as is true for most Zi Ri), and using a Glory of Hren Tzen amplifies Sustenoc spells. And quite a strong one, at that.

Usable two times a day. So, that’s two free extra Sustenoc spells a day. And those two at double power. Or with other goodies instead if I use it in more exotic ways, like a modest but pleasant 10% Enchantability improvement on Sustenoc enchantments, and I usually wind up sticking Sustenoc into enchantments somewhere already because I’m Zi Ri.

For the rest of my life.

Best three million lozens I ever spent.

Only three million lozens I ever spent, for that matter, but I hope the next time I do, it’s as good a deal.

Congratulations on your new-found poverty! May you do something particularly wonderful with it.

Nice toy! You should tell us about its provenance some time. :)

That's what I call a good investment! ;)

Aren't you worried about securing this new purchase given your current situation?

This will be useful as both a reason for, and a way to make, that device to shoot thousands of giant shiny metal spikes per minute. Or at least something ordinary like an animate tentacled chain golem with a nurse's hat.

Just as well that it's a wearable item. I imagine that's one accessory that isn't likely to leave your person in the immediate future, hmmm?

...Please tell me it's fireproof.

So now you just have to collect Glories for all the other gods?

Good thing they are so expensive or you might start getting bored and having to collect Glories for non-World Tree gods sooner instead of later?

So is there a way to put a spell on it to make sure it returns to you if some enterprising person decides to lift it off you?

Is this what you're buying instead of land?

And where on the tree did you *find* it? I didn't think those were ever for sale, especially not for lozen.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Imagine how much handier it would have been if there had been a spell in place that would, unknown to Zascalle, detect if a large amount of lozens belonging to Sythyry were being transferred elsewhere, and where the lozens were going.

Realistically, why would such a thing have been unknown to Zascalle? She probably would have been in charge of setting it up.

An on the world tree an ounce of cure is worth fifty pounds of prevention. Hl > Mu,De > Su, and a necklace of tiny beads with bound healing spells will do more to keep you alive in a fight than enough metal armor to smother a gormorror.

Zie isn't a Rassimel!

True, true, someone determined to steal a thing worth millions of lozens probably would invest in an artifact to see such spells!

I contend however, that avoiding the fight in the first place weighs considerably less still.

Makes me think of a Rassimel thief in blue, armed only with his wits and a crook-staff...

Don't some of the lozens have a form of tracing spell on them already?

Actually, the news or rumour that someone on Srineia had found a Glory of Hren Tzen was one of the contributing factors to zir choice of vacation venue.

I guess it does last forever, and probably won't become obsolete, so it's not *exactly* like spending $30 million on a high-end computer to make my work go faster.

Considering that pumping too much power into such a spell would have made it so blatantly obvious to the magic sense that it would have defeated the purpose, I don't think that spell would have lasted nearly this long! Besides, those were probably the lozens that were taken by the pirates - those, IIRC, were not recovered.

I don't know that a Grace or Glory needs recorded provenance, really... It is presumably the Glory that was mentioned back in the planning stages of the ~vacation~. Hren Tzen may have left it lying around for reasons known only to zir, or even entirely at random, to then be discovered by its owner prior to Sythyry.

But if it does have an interesting story to it, that would indeed be neat to hear!

Oooo, I just had a nasty thought. Sythyry needs to give hir chain Kythosis the ability to cast "The Awful Red Hook" with its tentacles.

"Entirely at random" doesn't really strike me as Hren Tzen's style.
