1. Can you cook? I can sort of cook. With a recipe in hand, I can do reasonably well, but improvisation without one tends to limit me to simpler creations.

2. What talent do you wish you had?
I'm already rather creative, but I wish I could keep creative thoughts in my head for longer. By time I can get them into a more permanent medium, I've already forgotten!

3. What is your favorite vegetable?
Ooh, this is a difficult one. I love cucumbers and bell peppers and onions and radishes and hot peppers and....

4. What was the last book you read?
Assuming we're talking complete decently-long books here, then.... If illustrated books count, I read through one called The Invisibles some time back. If only purely textual ones count, then I read an odd one called After Life.

5. What was the last book you enjoyed?
Both of those which I mentioned. Sadly, I don't do all that much reading.

6. Worst habit?
Aside from not reading much? I snack while working.

7. Pessimistic, Optimistic, Poptimistic, or Ossimistic?
Poptimistic. I usually figure that nothing will go according to plan, but it'll all work out right.

8. What was the worst to ever happen to you?
I spent a lengthy period of time without income and highly limited means of getting such. I did have a roof over my head, but even that started to look worrisome near the end. Fortunately, I had good friends to help me through it!

9. One weird fact about you?
I obsessively organise my music collection... and yet everything else of mine tends to be in utter disarray.

10. If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?
"One thing" is a bit vague. Does one's species count as one thing or a lot of little things?

11. Ever been arrested?
Not yet, though I have been charged with crimes. I was somewhat younger at the time.

12. Ever been killed?
Not yet, though I've had a couple moments where I was certain that it would happen.

13. Favorite thing to do in your spare time?
All manner of games!

14. Do you swear a lot?
Less than I once did, more than I ought to.

15. Biggest pet peeve?
The absurdity of how clothing is sized and sold in my part of the world.

Can you cook? Not really. I bake goodies occasionally, and mostly boil pasta, make sandwiches, or eat pre-made foodstuff for food.
What talent do you wish you had? Composition.
What is your favorite vegetable? I don't want to make the other vegetables jealous by saying.
What was the last book you read? Howl's Moving Castle, by Diana Wynne Jones. For the third time.
What was the last book you enjoyed? Same as above!
Worst habit? Procrastinating, especially on home maintenance stuff. o.o;;
Pessimistic, Optimistic, Poptimistic, or Ossimistic? Optimistic.
What was the worst to ever happen to you? I'm not really sure. Does "happen to you" mean "it just happened, without me doing anything to cause it?"
One weird fact about you?I'm perfectly happy to have the same breakfast, lunch, and dinner five days in a row, week after week.
If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be? I'd like to look about 30-40 pounds lighter. Or have a thinner nose. Or perky breasts. Okay, if it's by magic, I'm getting perky breasts, dammit. I never had those, not even as a teen.
Ever been arrested? No.
Ever been killed? Only in the Shakespearean sense.
Favorite thing to do in your spare time? Play games!
Do you swear a lot? No.
Biggest pet peeve? I don't keep peeves as pets. I prefer cats. I am, however, irrationally irritated by the sound of chewing, especially in quiet areas and/or loud chewing.

Three different meals, in repeated cycle. Standard Rowyn-food:

Breakfast: Two toaster scrambles
Lunch: PBJ
Snacks: rice pudding and flan
Dinner: spinach ravioli

All of that's pre-made food, basically. I heat or slap it together or eat out of the package as appropriate. My food choices are very dull!

1) Yes. I love to cook.
2) The talent to sell things to other people.
3) Green Beans
4) D&D Players Handbook 4E (For a real answer, I'm rereading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince)
5) As Above
6) I put things off for way too long.
7) Optomistic... I think... does poptimistic have to deal with Micheal Jackson?
8) I almost drowned when I was 4. Was underwater for a long time... Or I almost got burned by Magnesium from a fireworks display at age 7. Take your pick.
9)... I like Lace Undies over Microfiber by just a little. (I have no idea if that qualifies)
10) ... Just one thing???? I'd wish for a slighter belly.
11) No
12) Almost four times! but not yet.
13) Surf the internet and painting things
14) Only when really pressed. Otherwise, hardly ever!
15) Not enough clothing.

1. Technically.
2. Shapeshifting.
3. Um... potatoes?
4. XDM handbook.
5. The Black Company.
6. net surfing during work hours.
7. Optimistically cynical? The world is set up so that there's no way for things to possibly turn out well, but that's probably for the best.
8. I don't know. Probably when my car was stolen the day I was going to drive home from college (which OF COURSE I left until the last possible second), leaving me stranded, homeless, with too many boxes to carry and no one I knew within a 200 mile radius. Fortunately, my mom was willing to drive four hours to come pick me up. x.x
9. I can never think of specific examples of general categories?
10. Hmm, probably that I'd be thinner. If it's just looks and not health or other benefits, then maybe instead I'd want a tail. No! Fangs. I want fangs.
11. Not quite. Jerkhole neighbor got the cops to file a false police report on me once, but couldn't get them to falsely arrest me.
12. Only in games, dreams, fantasies, and stories. So far.
13. Video games!
14. Fuck yeah.
15. See 9. Okay, okay, let me think, I know this one! Maybe, people doing the wrong thing because of their principles? I hate that a LOT.

It said that I'd 'menaced' him and threatened to beat him up. I'd actually threatened to call the cops if he didn't stop screaming at me while brandishing a chainsaw.

This was when I was, like, 12? 14? He was mad because our tree had dropped berries in his yard and his dog had tracked them into his house and ruined his rug, so he took out his chainsaw and trespassed into our yard to cut down our tree.

How do you know that I survived? Oh, right, I told you so in the next answer. Doh!

From: [identity profile] terrana.livejournal.com

Oh, sure, why not.

  1. Can you cook?
Indeed I can, and quite well, I think!
  2. What talent do you wish you had?
I wish I could play a musical instrument acceptably well. Or, if we're not restricting ourselves to the realm of the feasible, preferably telekinesis.
  3. What is your favorite vegetable?
That depends how you define vegetable. I love bell peppers but, despite being used as vegetables, they're technically fruit. I love garlic, but I don't know if it's usually classed as a vegetable itself. Eh, take your pick.
  4. What was the last book you read?
    Matter, by Ian M Banks.
  5. What was the last book you enjoyed?
Ditto. I enjoy most books I read.
  6. Worst habit?
I'm far, far too easily distracted.
  7. Pessimistic, Optimistic, Poptimistic, or Ossimistic?
    Optimistic.
  8. What was the worst to ever happen to you?
Most of the last three years, I think.
  9. One weird fact about you?
I walk strangely. Unless I stop, my heels don't actually touch the ground.
  10. If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?
How big a change are we talking here? Because I'd kill for a tail.
  11. Ever been arrested?
Not yet, although I've done a few things which could have gone that way.
  12. Ever been killed?
Monday mornings just kill me, I swear... In all seriousness, though, isn't this basically the same as asking "Do you believe in reincarnation?" To which I say: yes, I remember it happening once or twice. Not really as bad as it's made out to be.
  13. Favorite thing to do in your spare time?
Shiny things! Seriously, I'm too easily distracted to settle into any one hobby - see Q6.
  14. Do you swear a lot?
More than I'm entirely comfortable with. I steer clear of the stronger curses, but casually use several milder ones.
  15. Biggest pet peeve?
Stupid people. Don't even get me started.

Two bad relationships, half a dozen different freeloading housemates, near-constant financial trouble and somewhat disastrous academic results, on top of certain relatives failing to deal with their own problems. Just a string of things that'd only be moderately bad on their own but that in combination made for an experience I would never care to repeat.

But it's okay, things are better now and look to stay that way.

1. Can I cook: Yes, but only simple recipes!
2. Desired talent: The talent of being socially charming!
3. Favored veggie: Carrots. Easy to cook, nice crunch and flavor.
4. Last book read: The Fallen. The story of two Voyagers following a map to the end of the world.
5. Last book enjoyed: The third book of the Alchemist's Apprentice by Dave Duncan.
6. Worst habit: Not getting things done!
7. Outlook: Ossimistic. Definitely.
8. Worst thing: Dad dying, it has put Mom into a real tailspin that she isn't recovering from and complicates my life as she lives with me.
9. Weird fact: Meow!
10. Change one thing: I have to admit looking like a cat would be fun, but if we're in the realm of 'humanly possible' then I'd want to be a bit handsomer. With interesting eyes!
11. Arrested: no
12. Killed: no
13. Favorite thing: playing games! Let's face it. If it weren't World of Warcraft, it'd be some random Flash game or text adventure or new AAA computer game. In fact I do those anyway!
14. Swearing: Not so much, unless the situation seems to call for it. People seem generally shocked when I do, which demonstrates that sparing use makes it more effective.
15. Biggest pet peeve: people being jerks.

It began well, for a story; it did not end well, unfortunately.

I found the Alchemist's Apprentice series much more interesting for the setting (Italy in the Renaissance period) and characters (an apprentice to Nostradamus, a famous prophet) and the mystery that is at the heart of each book, and which is unraveled by the aforementioned apprentice. I've always been fond of clever characters!

To 'Meow' would be unexceptionable for one of the Sleethkins of this world (who are not Primes except in their own minds), but is a little surprising for a Prime, as it were.

1. Can you cook?

Yes! I love to cook, it's so much fun. I'll try almost anything once and experiment.

2. What talent do you wish you had?

I wish I could do gymnastics. Really and truly, I'd love to be able to tumble and do somersalts and all that stuff, but I don't know if it's something one can really start learning at my age.

3. What is your favorite vegetable?

Sweet potato, no contest.

4. What was the last book you read?

Completed? Downblow Station

5. What was the last book you enjoyed?

This big collection of Science Fiction novellas that I don't remember the name of.

6. Worst habit?

Impulsiveness.

7. Pessimistic, Optimistic, Poptimistic, or Ossimistic?

Optimistic, more or less. More of a conscious decision to be so than anything.

8. What was the worst to ever happen to you?

Lots of unpleasant chemicals in a medical context including spine-injections.

9. One weird fact about you?

I didn't contract chicken pox until I was fifteen years old, after my parents had given up trying to infect me intentionally while I was young.

10. If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?

I would like to banish the excess lipid content!

11. Ever been arrested?

Yes, breaking into (lockpickingly) a church. They didn't press charges since I was only in there playing the organ and nothing was missing or damaged.

12. Ever been killed?

Not yet.

13. Favorite thing to do in your spare time?

I love to sing in harmony with people.

14. Do you swear a lot?

Not really. I say "gosh darn it" and "heck" now and then, which I didn't realise was odd until someone started laughing at me for it.

15. Biggest pet peeve?

Stupid anime eyes in realtime textual conversation.

Well it's been a while since I left a comment on any of your posts (but I've been reading! Promise!) so what the hey I'll fill this in. It has nothing to do with it being 7am and the insomnia acting up again. Honest.

1. Can you cook? Yes, quite well most of the time but results range between poor and most excellent. I am however not a chef, i.e. I cannot get timings right for the life of me, nor can I cook well under pressure.

2. What talent do you wish you had? An attention span that can be measured by a unit other than goldfish.

3. What is your favourite vegetable? Fruit would be easy but vegetable is harder... I'm going to go with sweetcorn.

4. What was the last book you read? A Second Life textbook for academic reasons only. Recreational reading the last book I read was Watership Down by Richard Adams. It destroyed the last part of my childhood that was good and pure.

5. What was the last book you enjoyed? Watership Down by Richard Adams. It destroyed the last part of my childhood that was good and pure in the most enjoyable way.

6. Worst habit? I have a chip on my shoulder the size of a small deformed yeti. I am likely to take things the wrong way and misinterpret people.

7. Pessimistic, Optimistic, Poptimistic, or Ossimistic? Optimistic. Even if everything goes wrong life seems to have a habit of working out given enough time. It doesn't help that I can't find definitions for ossimistic and poptimistic.

8. What was the worst to ever happen to you? I'm going to have to be emo about this and say unrequited love.

9. One weird fact about you? I routinely suffer from nosebleeds in the night. Most of the time I swallow all the blood and feel tired and sick in the morning. On a few occasions I've woken up in a pool of blood, severely weak and very sick.

10. If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be? My species.

11. Ever been arrested? A police officer tried once, he got about so far as finding out my name before turning pale and apologising for causing any offence. I hadn't actually done anything wrong, in fact I was the wronged party in that case.

12. Ever been killed? Killed no, but I have died once this life time. I will never forgive the e-coli microbe.

13. Favourite thing to do in your spare time? Depends on my mood. Play games / exercise / read / watch something / be introspective.

14. Do you swear a lot? Maybe too much for entirely polite company.

15. Biggest pet peeve? The cyclists who don't dismount when going over the aqueducts on the canal tow-path, it's barely wide enough for the one cyclist, when there are other people trying to walk along it they're slightly hazardous.

I died from eating bad food from a restaurant. I was sick for a few days and getting worse and weaker. The health centres told me it was nothing to worry about. Eventually we decided to ignore them and went to a hospital. Within five minutes I was in intensive care. A few days in I medically died for a while, while the medics assembled to revive me I came back under my own power. It was an interesting experience.

As for species there are some quadrupedal animals similar to cani. I would be one of them if I could. Specifically one of the larger types from which all dogs in this universe are descended from.

Can you cook? Yes, in a very pedestrian fashion.
What talent do you wish you had? That of making large amounts of money. The other is not mentionable. Though, if I had it, perhaps the former would solve itself.
What is your favorite vegetable? I will not say Stephen Hawking. I will say broccoli, especially in Dhe Xao Ot Kho.
What was the last book you read? Raymond Chandler, "Trouble is my Business."
What was the last book you enjoyed? Jay Wiseman, "Erotic Bondage Handbook."
Worst habit? Refusing to answer questions.
Pessimistic, Optimistic, Poptimistic, or Ossimistic? Yes. /kosh
What was the worst to ever happen to you? Flying my first marriage into the ground.
One weird fact about you? I have three first names, and, when given the choice, no one ever gets them in the right order.
If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be? I'd be fifty pounds lighter.
Ever been arrested? Nope.
Ever been killed? Oh, dozens of times, but only online.
Favorite thing to do in your spare time? Vegetate on the computer. Like now.
Do you swear a lot? Fuck, yeah.
Biggest pet peeve? I'm torn between the ineffectual cowardice of the DC 'Rats and the soulless evil of the Rethuglifucks. Let's just distill that to: Government.
