(This is Bard, not Sythyry. My personal account is a free one, and I want to do a poll, so I'm using Sythyry, but this isn't about the lizard at all. This happens occasionally.)

I swear I thought this song was in English. It's not, except for the chorus and occasional words. It's mostly Japanese. But before I knew that, I wrote down what I heard it to say.

The song is Noizy Tribe by m.o.v.e..

I present two versions. One of them is a translation of the lyrics I found on some web site somewhere. The other is my best attempt to hear them as if they were English.

Incidentally, this is about how most music with words in English sounds to me, at least if there's any significant instrumentals too. I knew I had the lyrics sort of wrong -- I always have the lyrics sort of wrong -- but not surprisingly so. I was really rather perplexed to learn it was really in Japanese.

Feel free, but they're already in a song. Sort of. It's on YouTube -- it's the intro to the anime Initial D -- so you can hear it and compare your version to mine.

Anyways, um, I really did think it was in English, and that the lyrics were approximately what I wrote. I mean, I thought that "You mean that's a kiss?" probably really was more like "Giving me a kiss" or some such, but ... I am still boggled at how totally wrong I was.

There's a parlor game: given lyrics to a song that you don't know, write a new song. I don't know the original music.

I don't know whether I can create anything from these lyrics. I'm poor at creating melodies from lyrics, and equally poor at creating music from melodies. (I usually work in the opposite direction.)
