We saw hellgrammites at St. Morphodite's Pond, and diving beetles in The Stream of the Yellow Sword, and immature cholliofish in the Zhang-Zhang stream, and hellgrammites and immature cholliofish but not the same species in the Slimy Pond, and all three in the Pond of Curry and Spice. It was all Very Educational, and I'm sure I couldn't have been nearly as close to nearly as many scantily-clad Orrens if I had spent the day studying from the book.
Also, I couldn't have seen Brush-Rush get a hellgrammite up his snout.
And that's about all for that field trips. Except that Moria was waiting for Chelinet when the coach got back to the natural philosophy building. She rather grandiosely captured Chelinet, and towed her off to an early dinner at Candledance.
I flew around and left notes for my co-conspirators that we should try to put the next meeting of the Club of Students Who Love Beyond Their Own Species.

Date: 2008-01-24 10:18 am (UTC)As far as sponting the spell, I would be more limited by my relatively weak connection to either Gnarn or Accanax; really the weakest connection any given spell is the main limit for a lot of things. For me, the weakest link is usually any god connection that isn't with Birkozon. (Sinuuf shudders a bit) In any case, I -might- be able to spont a Cplx 10 MuMe spell, if I was lucky; I might be able to cast it one in four times.
I could probably spellweave an effect between Cplx 25-30, of either DeMe or MuMe, depending on how much scrounging for rare woods, sculpture, herbs, and so on so forth that I feel like dealing with. That would take time, but like they say... fast, easy, effective, chose two.
I really -do- need to work on my spellweaving skills more.. and try not to terrify people while doing it, like I've been managing to do recently.
Twist the Memory, in comparison, is MuMe 15. That only allows modest changes to the memory; nothing that would let me completely *purge* the memory of the thought of an oversexed, perverted Khtsoyis on the prowl with a club of unusually dubious nature. Strange Truth (MuMe 25) would be enough, because it lets you completely rewrite the memory.
...Disturbingly enough, I have both of those, which is a major reason why I seem to be called "Calamitous". But I need to decide what infinitely less disturbing thing I might want to turn it into, and psych myself up to doing that large of a change to myself. I'll have to agree to at least some extent that contemplating how someone with a quick wit and evil intents could use those kind of spells can be good fuel for nightmares. I've had plenty.

... why did you do it?
