Traff Truths [19 Hivvem 4261]

Jrakh's non-departure had, however, poured a mug of small and sour beer on the mood of the assembled multitudes. Well, multitudelets. It seemed like a good time to get out a secret weapon. I debated for a while between the seven-winged burning thing and the other choice. After considerable thought, I realized that destroying Senagar's would deprive many of my friends of their best source of cheap fig wine.

Me:"For anyone who wants to say, how did you come to realize that you were traff? Especially in a city like this, known for libertines?"

Everyone else, even Whiskey:"An excellent question, for someone else to answer first."

Me:"Well, then, I suppose I can start." I somehow -- somehow! -- neglected to mention what I had done to Amberwave, but I did describe a long sequence of Orren.

Mintiet:"A bit of a specialist, aren't you?"

Me:"I beg your pardon?"

Mintiet:"You mentioned an Orren, and then an Orren, and then an Orren, and then -- surprise! -- an Orren. Followed by an Orren, and then an Orren, and then another Orren, and then, to break the monotony, an Orren. And then another Orren and an Orren, for dessert."

Me:"Well, hardly so many as that."

Mintiet:"One wonders just how traff you really are."

Me:"I have never had any sort of liaison with someone of my own species -- not even an exploratory kiss. Can you say the same?"

Mintiet:"Well, no, but I've never liked one. Besides, how many suitable Zi Ri have you met and rejected?"

Me:"Well, fewer than would make a perfect test. Yet -- do I seek them out? I do not! I stay here and attempt to seduce Orren, instead!"

Mintiet:"My point exactly. Try other species."

Whiskey:"Are you hinting for a threesome?"

Mintiet:*whack*

Whiskey:"Ow! What was that for?"

Me:"I daresay that you are thoroughly familiar with the ins and outs of Khtsoyis. I personally expect to maintain a charming naivete about this topic for millenia to come. Even at the price of not being fully and properly traff."

Mintiet:"That's not what I meant."

And so we had quite a nice fight about it.

[Poll #726084]

Obviously, there are subtleties that the poll does not truly address. Fortunately, there is a way to leave comments.

For all the unknown answers, I put three! (Also known as "the number of licks it takes to reach the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop!")

"...should one expect to eventually fall in love with...?"

No one ever really expects to fall in love, do they?

Some of us do. We expect to fall into, then out of, love all the time. :) It's quite natural for those whose tastes change so frequently.

Oh dear, I misreaf the first two yes/no ones and put 'no' when I meant 'yes' in both cases, that'll teach me to answer a poll so early in the morning. :oP

Well, Orren is about the second most common species, after Herethroy.

Some of them even have names. What's yours?

Given immortality, I"m sure you'd get around to trying EVERYTHING there was to try. Eternity is a long time. So I wouldn't assume that Sleeth, Khtsoyis, or even Nendrai or other monsters are out of the question, given sufficient time.

Kaimiri might know, though, and be able to save you the wait. :)

Cyarr, once they attain prime status?

Because you can't piss off only *one* of your ancestors.

What's so bad about Khtsoyis? They seem less scary than sleeth... or gormorror... or certain cani...

From what you've told me, 'proper transaffection' means loving every other prime except for your own species. You know, by definition. I don't have a different definition to parrot back at you.

How about "any" instead of "every"?

Zie was very clear that it was 'all others except your own'.

I suppose.

*giggle* You might not be 'traff' -- that is, sexually interested in every other kind of prime than Zi Ri. You might just be an Orrenphile.

Know what? That's fine, too.

I wouldn't stop the traff group as you work this problem out, though. It makes sense to band together with folk who are similar... because you'll have similar problems together.

I expect it's that you are confusing words with reality. There is, I expect, a full spectrum of positions from fully cis to fully trans, with a range of situations of taste on them. You seem to like Orren and I expect as you mentioned in terms of the Zi Ri pornography that you would also like Zi Ri were there any to be interested in. Whether you would prefer a live Zi Ri to a live Orren is still unknown and will be, I expect, until you are courted by a desirable Zi Ri.
I expect that would place you rather in the middle of the spectrum, too far to claim to be cis, but likewise nowhere near the extreme end of trans either. I suspect if your transaffectionate friends were carefully polled, they too would not be at the end of that spectrum, either.
The words, however, are binary - either one is, or one is not. I expect that more words to distinguish shades between the two are needed.

I find myself reminded of monster arguments about whether one is truly bisexual unless one has slept with members of both genders. I find those annoying; it's like claiming someone is asexual until they've had sex.

If ever it comes to pass that you have lost your charming naivete about this topic, I would ask that you not provide details in this journal.

Some of us monsters have delicate psyches. The mental scarring could prove fatal. *shiver*

But... wouldn't it be wonderful to have so many arms surrounding you? To be gently wafted aloft and to be blown by the breezes while three arms gently touch you in your places of pleasure? To have your name whispered with the winds?

The difficulty is in finding a Khtoyis that's more interested in singing poetry than in using heads as percussion instruments...

Wow...You have a rare and impressive talent. When you describe the image so poetically, it takes several seconds before the mewling terror kicks in!
