May. 10th, 2006 10:16 amTraff Truths [19 Hivvem 4261]
Jrakh's non-departure had, however, poured a mug of small and sour beer on the mood of the assembled multitudes. Well, multitudelets. It seemed like a good time to get out a secret weapon. I debated for a while between the seven-winged burning thing and the other choice. After considerable thought, I realized that destroying Senagar's would deprive many of my friends of their best source of cheap fig wine.
Me:"For anyone who wants to say, how did you come to realize that you were traff? Especially in a city like this, known for libertines?"
Everyone else, even Whiskey:"An excellent question, for someone else to answer first."
Me:"Well, then, I suppose I can start." I somehow -- somehow! -- neglected to mention what I had done to Amberwave, but I did describe a long sequence of Orren.
Mintiet:"A bit of a specialist, aren't you?"
Me:"I beg your pardon?"
Mintiet:"You mentioned an Orren, and then an Orren, and then an Orren, and then -- surprise! -- an Orren. Followed by an Orren, and then an Orren, and then another Orren, and then, to break the monotony, an Orren. And then another Orren and an Orren, for dessert."
Me:"Well, hardly so many as that."
Mintiet:"One wonders just how traff you really are."
Me:"I have never had any sort of liaison with someone of my own species -- not even an exploratory kiss. Can you say the same?"
Mintiet:"Well, no, but I've never liked one. Besides, how many suitable Zi Ri have you met and rejected?"
Me:"Well, fewer than would make a perfect test. Yet -- do I seek them out? I do not! I stay here and attempt to seduce Orren, instead!"
Mintiet:"My point exactly. Try other species."
Whiskey:"Are you hinting for a threesome?"
Mintiet:*whack*
Whiskey:"Ow! What was that for?"
Me:"I daresay that you are thoroughly familiar with the ins and outs of Khtsoyis. I personally expect to maintain a charming naivete about this topic for millenia to come. Even at the price of not being fully and properly traff."
Mintiet:"That's not what I meant."
And so we had quite a nice fight about it.
[Poll #726084]Obviously, there are subtleties that the poll does not truly address. Fortunately, there is a way to leave comments.

I wouldn't stop the traff group as you work this problem out, though. It makes sense to band together with folk who are similar... because you'll have similar problems together.

Date: 2006-05-11 11:16 pm (UTC)I expect that would place you rather in the middle of the spectrum, too far to claim to be cis, but likewise nowhere near the extreme end of trans either. I suspect if your transaffectionate friends were carefully polled, they too would not be at the end of that spectrum, either.
The words, however, are binary - either one is, or one is not. I expect that more words to distinguish shades between the two are needed.
