A few questions about nendrai, just out of nowhere. Specifically, their tails.

So it is known that nendrai must touch something with their tails in order to cast a spell on it. Would any part of the tail count, or just the tip(s)? If the tip is severed, would the stub-end still be usable for casting spells?

I suppose it would have something to do with the structure of a nendrai's magerium, and how it interacts with their physical body. And whether the length of the tail is more of a conduit or a node (focusing body), and whether there are any nodes other than at the tailtip, or what counts as such a node. Or perhaps magic runs in circuits rather than being bursts at a projecting node, such that the shape of a circuit builds the particular pattern... which I think is how magic has been described for Primes. Hm.

I suspect that the reason Primes have access to all the nouns and verbs is because they were originally the least magically offensive of the lot... and the whole deal with collecting cley (it acts as a limiter to one's capability, while other creatures with limited magical focus have spare fuel for the patterns they use) seems to point to that in my view.

I wonder if Vae fuels her magic with the items she collects... which reminds me, have you been to see her home yet?

Any part of the tail works, including the parts that are internal. Transformed nendrai use whatever part of the new shape is homologous (?) to the tail. Research on this topic is not conclusive; the nendrai don't seem to encourage it, for some reason.
