Grinwipey floated menacingly in the door of Invincible Fire Demon’s room. “So
I’m your sheepshoofing lurvle now, am I?”

“I beg your pardon?” said Invincible Fire Demon.

“Well, tie my eyestalks in a vopter knot, you beg my pardon, now.
Didn’t beg it this morning with the shatter-and-mess, did you?”

“I’m sorry, but, I don’t know what you mean.”

Grinwipey scowled. “I’m not the shoggy for your stink-arranging little joke,
swimmy boy. I’m not gnawing on anyone’s fudd-whucker here, and I don’t even
think you thought I would. But you had your frutting gleebers in a frenzy –
thought it’d be as funny as the dashitzie to make everyone laugh at the
Khtsoyis, did you?” He raised a club. “Well, I’ve got a little joke of my
own.”

“What do you mean?” asked Invincible Fire Demon, scared.

“Off with your clothes!” roared Grinwipey. “Everyone thinks we roust the bean
of another species together, least you can do is drop trou for me!”

Invincible Fire Demon didn’t, at first, but Grinwipey was violently
persuasive.

I think there is a point at which you ought to do something about it. Or someone ought to. Grinwipey's behavior here is inexcusable, regardless of whether or not he thinks he's been provoked.

There is indeed such a point, and someone -- some several -- did, indeed, do something about it.

I am relieved to hear it. I hope Invincible Fire Demon wasn't too traumatized. v.v

Okay, this is officially Not Fun, and Not Funny.

It is officially a Bad ThingTM.

Grinwipey is going to catch holy Hell for this, but whoever goaded him like this is probably going to need separate arrangements to get back home outside of a coffin.

I, personally, hope Grinwipey was traumatized enough, but I rather suspect not.

I agree (though I admit that my predilection for cliffhangers may be making a mountain out of a foothill in this case).

*sigh* I really hope this couldn't've been prevented by responding to the poetry with more alacrity, because I would lose respect for Sythyry if so - it was an obvious result, and that IFD wasn't the author almost assured.

But yes, both Grinwipey and whoever wrote the poetry should be punished. I feel the writer should be punished more strongly, and Grinwipey's punishment shouldn't be light.

The two events happened at about the same time.

I hate to say that's good, but at least it's not as bad as I feared! I'm sure whoever wrote that poetry will get what's coming to them.

So... he got off with a spanking?

Date: 2011-06-04 05:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sythyry.livejournal.com
Not a spanking exactly. Grinwipey did not lay a tentacle or a weapon on Invie. His revenge was of a different character altogether.

Hmmmmmm.

Oooookay? Maybe no coffins will be involved, but somehow I suspect pictures or other image representations should be acquired...

Grinewipey is going to make him wear a Ktys... ktis... Floating Octopus Costume, isn't he?

You understand Grinwipey!

I don't know if this is a good thing, however.

Grinwipey was violently persuasive.

What did he use for the violent part, then? Cley? o.O

I agree completely with this statement.

This cliffhanger ends at a most unpleasant moment.

From: [identity profile] sythyry.livejournal.com
He slammed clubs against furniture in a way that suggested that he might, if further provoked, slam them against Invincible Fire Demon.

Date: 2011-06-04 09:32 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sythyry.livejournal.com
I admit that I chose both the moment and the phrasing to make the situation seem as bad as could be arranged. But that is the art of the cliffhanger, is it not?

Date: 2011-06-04 09:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sythyry.livejournal.com
But make no mistake of it. Grinwipey was trying to terrify, humiliate, and punish Invy, and I have no doubt that he would have struck him had Invy not capitulated.

Aaaand it seems I partly called this... though Grinwipey finding out about things was hardly the most difficult conclusion to draw.

Poor IFD.

The above comments concerning Grinwipey's fate are some mixture of encouraging and alarming. I await word of what transpired with as much patience as I can muster!

That would involve laying a weapon on him, so probably not directly.

We can't have that, though, for if Invincible Fire Demon actually was, you know, Vincible, the universe might implode!

He's totally vincible.

That's just his name, he's obviously not really invincible.

I mean the entire crew can see him perfectly fine.

In my home dimension, we have a group of people similar to your "traff" crowd, who for reasons obscure and cultural and too long to get into here, are identified by a label which also means "Happy."

Grinwipey has crossed the line into happy-bashing. In my (admittedly rather stern) book, Grinwipey has earned the right to walk home to Veshrame.
