Sorry, no new free fiction from me.  I only really do big stuff, which means that I don't have very much of it around.  I'd give away Terrible Butterflies for free, but it's not done.

Go read Sythyry from the beginning if you really want to.  It's free, it's always been free, I've been a pixel-stained technopeasant since about 2002, and I wish I could do better for this day of celebration of that.

Is that a fancy way of saying "Online Writer's Block Day"?

No, it's a protest against the SFWA. See [Bad username or site: papersky.livejournal.com @ livejournal.com]

I would call it more of a protest against stupid things said by SFWA VP. -_-

Now I get it. Thank you.

Pixel Stained technopeasant... That is the most insulting drivel I've ever seen strung together. ... of course, I have dirty images running through my head when I hear the term Pixel Stained.... But techopeasant? (Different from Techno Pheasant that I originally read) That's... ugh.

Shakespeare's birthday. That I can groove to... but not that.

Hmm. Is it worse or better than "webscabs"?

(both terms come from a rant by the VP of the SFWA)

... And this person writes sci-fi WHY?

As someone who has never been associated with the SFWA, being a reader but not a writer (you gotta specify nowadays ;), all I can vaguely guess is there are some people who really hate it when the future is here rather than some distant thing to be dreamed about (particularly when it doesn't match their dreams).

I was thinking of giving away some +Terrible Butterflies+ emails for free, but I'm too lazy to explain the context for them tonight. :)

And do I think that someone who's been keeping a free and public fiction journal for six years should feel no compulsion to participate in an annual giveaway to prove commitment to the cause. :)

Oh, I wanted to participate! I just didn't have anything usable, and I wasn't even able to write an actual Sythyry entry today, alas.

(Next year, I might actually be able to give away Terrible Butterflies for free!)
