Whiskey:"Well, now that we're all best friends, shall we get on with the entire entire real purpose of this meeting?"

Esory:"We're all best friends?"

The lizard who had arranged the meeting:"What purpose was that?"

Grandille:"This could be dreadful..."

Mintiet:"An orgy, I think he had in mind."

Whiskey:"A politics!"

Me:"This could be dreadful."

Whiskey:"We must advance and entirely entirely advance, until we are in all ways coequal to the cisaffectionate!"

Everyone:"The Doom!"

Whiskey:"Which is to say, we must hold a Transaffection Ball."

Everyone but Mintiet:"The Considerably Smaller Doom!"

Mintiet:"Ball me! Oh, ball me!"

Everyone but Mintiet and Whiskey:"The Embarrass!"

Jrakh:"Excuse me." She headed for the door, tail between her legs.

Whiskey and Mintiet chased her, and by means partially moral and partially fig-wineical retrieved her, relieved her, and returned her.

OOC: Have you read "The Primary Education of the Camiroi"?

It was one of the first SF stories I read. I've been vaguely wishing I could get ahold of it -- or other Lafferty short stories -- for a while now.

The Lafferty doesn't leave the house, but you're welcome to come down here, drink tea, and read it. We have a lot of Lafferty.

Mintiet should have waited until Rhedwy showed up!

Whiskey, at least, seems to be on the same page as you, though. Or at least in the same book, perhaps a chapter or two ahead.

I agree with Terry...

You need to find something Vaguely Important for Whiskey to do, or the Orren will find a dozen kinds of Doom for the club. (If you find something Vaguely Important, then the Orren might only bring half a dozen kinds of Doom.)

I recommend making Whiskey the club secretary, in charge of taking notes during the meeting, sending out reminders to everyone, sending out copies of the notes, and so forth. While he's writing, he can't talk quite so much.

My, Mintiet is an excitable sort...

That sounds like a sensible house rule... I daresay we'll be happily busy with other things when we manage to visit. But thanks for the offer.

I'm beginning to think Whiskey uses 'entirely' entirely entirely too much. ;) Anyway, I agree that he may be the cause for some large numbers of doom to the group, even if that doom may be quite fun in parts. It occurs to me that Whiskey may also be a cause of doom in individual relationships that may or may not have developed, nosing in 'innocently' and splitting up couples. (Or triads, or quartets, or however they choose to be grouped.)

If you do go forth with this ball, which sounds like a fine idea to me, it would be prudent to spend a good deal of time to find a decent location.. For a variety of reasons.

The problem (I speak from fortunately second-hand experience here) with making the most enthusiastic member of the group secretary is that he will right down what you, in his opinion, should have said if you were as devoted to the cause as you ought to be. Thereafter, as he is secretary, it is officially what you did say. Much Doom.

D'you have any other recommendations to keep an Orren in permanent Wild Rush busy?
