Surprise and surprises are over. It's cool again, and so am I. I evidently even made a new Orren friend last night: Real-Eel, a very advanced student in ... in ... she told me last night, but I can't remember. Actually I don't remember much about last night: I went with Havune to a big party sort of thing, half Cani and half assorted other people, and wound up eating a whole gopher and drinking three chalices of fortified wine, and practicing Flirtatious Dancing at Real-Eel. Havune informs me that I spent most of the evening in her lap, getting scritched, but that nothing interesting happened.

He is wrong. Something interesting did happen. The gopher turned out to be stuffed with offirrah and bread. I know that fermented snakes with half-rotten garlic and pepper sounds really disgusting to anyone but Cani, but ... damp it down with a lot of bread, and bake it inside a gopher, and don't let the innocent Zi Ri know what zie's eating, and it's remarkably good.

And, of course, I have now realized that I am hideously, terribly attracted to Orren, since I evidently go sit on them when I am drunk. This is unfortunate. I don't suppose many Zi Ri are cisaffectionate, unless they're actually mated or some such... I have no great wish to become physically intimate with my obnoxious, wicked 600-year-older-than-me sister. But why couldn't I be attracted to Rassimel? It would be much simpler.

Dustweed had zir own private party in the apartment last night, from the looks of things: a bottle of cheap wine, a pot of Khtsoyis narcotic tea, and crying on the couch. I'm getting a bit worried about zir -- does anyone have any clue what's wrong? Or any suggestions about what to do?

Well, a Rassi may _seem_ simpler, but if you found one (and I have faith that you would) that had a thing for cooking, who knows how many gophers you'd be eating, and with stuffings that even I can't dream up.

I repeat: no matter how hard to fight your inclination, the inclination will win. If it isn't illegal, you have it easy. The key to making your inclination work *for* you and not *against* you is finding the right partner. It sounds like you just had a bad Orren encounter.

But there's other Orren in the sea. So to speak. :)

Dustweed probably wanted to be at the party, but was afraid of being around so many people, or that zie'd be bored or put upon or not flirtatious enough, so zie stayed home and got drunk instead.

Or else there's actualyl something real wrong. You should probably ask, if you care about zir at all. Zie's just your roommate, though, and it doesn't sound like you're close.

Not that I can blame you. I'm not much attracted to Rassimel myself. Not that I understand your thing for Orren, either.

How long before we can make Cloak of Another God devices, and make it convenient for anyone interested to look right in bed?

... But that's not right, is it? It would be awfully insulting to the anyone-interested. "Sure, I'll use you for my sexual amusement, but you're so hideous that I want you to look like a whole 'nother species."

And of course it's not just the shape. For me at least -- you haven't talked a lot about your own opinions, and I don't blame you for not. I find Wild Rush insanely cute. Also insanely frustrating. Not that I've tried to play with a fake Orren of course.

We should learn to be completely traff, and go for any species but our own. Not that I have the least idea how to arrange for that.
